News | From the programme: Steve Lomas, Managers notes

As you all know I was away last weekend on my Pro-License placement at Hibernian in Scotland so I wasn't here for the Cup match with Alconbury. I was delighted with the result and although it wasn’t a league fixture it’s important to keep our good run going. It is also reassuring to be able to leave the side in Dennis’ hands and know that we don’t lose focus. Dennis has also written this week’s Managers notes so it’s over to him now.

It’s been a great month for us, the belief and spirit in the camp is there for all to see. I must say the boys have been a privilege to work with, there are some really good characters in this team with a fair amount of ability to go with it. Even though we have had a free scoring month and 4 clean sheets we have road our luck at times, at important times, in games early on to keep it that way. We must always remind ourselves not to get carried away as we always strive for better.

Back to our cup match against Alconbury, firstly I would like to thank their management team, and players on a miserable day for the weather and result in the way they conducted themselves and the way they kept going passing the ball. At 6-0 it would have been easy to get frustrated kick a few and keep smashing the ball up field, defending in numbers. They kept to their beliefs and for that they will get their rewards at their level.

We got off to a real flyer with possibly as many as 7 corners in the opening 10 minutes and 2 goals to boot, with the "King" keeping his purple patch going. The rain was coming down heavily and the pitch was starting to become difficult, if it was not for the half time whistle with the game already won, it gave the heavens a chance to close and the second period went ahead with the weather staying dry.

We continued to pass the ball well and goals 4-5-6 soon came along and the "King" completing his deserved hat trick. It was really nice to see Scouse back in action after 14 weeks on the sidelines, he is a great lad and his energy will be a big plus for our run in. So 6-0 no injuries more goals from the deadly duo, more banter from behind the goal, more magic from Scully, a clean sheet and we all went home happy. So onto Bourne, let’s keep the support and this belief going that we can take it to that last game of the season against Daventry now that would be some day.
