Buy a Brick
04-05-2008

If I had £5 for each time I have been asked "what's happened to Buy a Brick", since we announced the move from the old ground, I would be wealthy!

On a serious note, many fans have been asking what's happening to the brass plaques that had been on display in the clubhouse at the old Rowley Park.

"Buy a Brick" was a fund raising campaign that demonstrated how much the people of St Neots wanted to see the old Rowley Park ground developed. Thousands of pounds were raised as a result of the campaign and the majority of donors were recognised by having their name engraved on the brass plaques displayed at the old ground.

The old plaques were removed and are now in safe storage, prior to re-displaying at our new headquarters. The club has already identified a suitable area to display these plaques, but should any supporters wish to voice their opinion in respect of this, please contact the club secretary via http://stneotsfc.com/contact.

03-05-2008

Thanks to a tremendous response from last weeks posting "Memorabilia", the club will be forming a sub-committee to co-ordinate the collection and display of "Saints Memorabilia".

In the last few days we have received offers, which include: badges, medals, newspaper cuttings, photos, posters, programmes, and even a silk scarf produced by SNTJSC (the junior supporters club) in the latter part of 1960 - early 1970s,

We are still looking for more material, so if you can help please make contact, via email to the club secretary.

Also following on from last Friday, can you name the "12 faces"? There is a bottle of 'bubbly' waiting for the supporter who can identify the most players and managers. Answers by email to club secretary

MEMORABILIA
25-04-2008

Can you help?
The Saints, having moved to their new headquarters, are keen to re-establish contact with former players, officials and supporters.

The club is hoping to host a number of reunions and are looking to build up their database, to ensure that as many people as possible are able to attend.

Paul Breakwell stated "the club has only 5 people involved now, who were also involved at Shortsands, Grant Ager, John Delaney, Craig Lambert, Ian Parr and President John Walker; so unfortunately we don't have much continuity and that's something we want to correct".

The club is also building its archive of cuttings, photographs and other memorabilia and intends to create a permanent display in its new home. An appeal for contributions to display will be launched in the near future.

In the meantime, "if you have been involved historically, or know of someone who has, then please make contact", requests Breakwell.

PROGRAMME EDITOR
02-03-2008

St Neots Town Football Club are pleased to announce that Dave Brown has been re-appointed Programme Editor/Designer for the 2008-09 season. Dave has a wealth of experience to call upon, having contributed to the Cambridge United F.C Programme for 19 continuous seasons, including 7 of those being Editor/Designer. You may remember that three seasons ago he won the UCL Programme of the Year accolade for the Saints at his first attempt and we are all striving to ensure he repeats the feat in our new superb surroundings next season.

Dave commented; “Bob Bridges, our Chairman, had continuously hounded me to take up this appointment not only here at Rowley Park but on numerous away trips as well!! Last month, I visited the new Ground with my son Stuart for the very first time, quite honestly I was blown away by it! Funnily (or should that be happily) Bob was also there and I told him I wanted to be part of the new revolution, Bob's response was to offer me this position.

For the new Programme I have already started to get my team together. Let's face it, this season's effort is expensive and there's nothing to read other than match reports with loads of adverts (and my occasional Terrace Chatter). One of my first appointments has been Andy Wilson as Official Photographer. I'm sure you've all seen Andy this season wandering around with camera and monopod. Crumbs! For the S&L game last Saturday he proved 'Baz' had been fouled for a penalty in the first half, but the Ref wouldn't even look at it (mind you he missed loads of other decisions as well!). Andy will be doing action shots, goals, incidents, head & shoulders of the Players, plus a lot of shots at the soon to be announced series of events taking place, to celebrate the Official opening of the new Ground.

I feel Player and Management participation is vital to ensure you, the fans, know what's going on, and I look upon it as a cornerstone of the new Programme. Rob, the Groundsman has agreed to do a monthly update on the state of both the pitches plus his usual whines! Lucky Programme Number will return. The Crossword will be dumped and my more relevant and quicker quiz will return. A few seasons back, my Fanfile article proved to be popular and I am now devising a follow up which hopefully you'll participate in. Match Sponsors and major advertisers will be interviewed, Directors interrogated. I am aiming for next season's Programme to be not only the best in the UCL but certainly the best that St Neots Town F.C have ever produced.”

PRESS RELEASE
22-12-2006

SUPPORTING THE SUPER SAINTS

In their end of year report, the club confirmed that it is all change at St Neots Town Football club. Mr and Mrs Bob Page have recently left and relinquished all ties with the Football Club. While it has been acknowledged the work carried out by them, it is now also important that the club looked forward to the future. A new Board of Directors has been assembled and their first task has been to review the present situation, restructure, then stabilise the club and move forward.

New chairman Mr Bob Bridges stated that he was pleased to accept his new role and was looking forward to working with the excellent management committee, which currently runs the daily business of the club. He let it be known that for the first time for a number of years, the present management and supporters now have overall control, having just obtained a majority shareholding in the football club.

Mr Bob Page will no longer hold the purse strings of the football club, in his place, have appointed accountant Tina Thompson to the position of Hon Treasurer. It was also announced that Mr John Walker who has been involved with the club in various roles for many years has accepted the position of Club President.

The chairman then stated that he had has complete confidence in the present football team management structure and players, who will continue to receive his full backing. While he did accept that in recent months there had been a great deal of uncertainly within the club, he also felt that with the prospect of a new £2.5 million stadium with excellent facilities, which will benefit the whole town, on the horizon, now was the time to look forward rather than back.

With regard to the new stadium for the club, which is due to be completed by February 2008, it has been agreed that Stuart Walters, who has many years experience in the construction industry, will work alongside Peter Naylor and act as liaison between the cub and the developers. It is also intended to shortly produce a feature on the new facilities and regular updates on its progress in both the newspaper, on the club website and in the clubhouse at Rowley Park.

It is very important that the true supporters of football in the town, both individuals and companies who have previously sponsored the football club, come back on board and get involved. With the new stadium being built to Conference South specification we must aim to progress into a higher league and this will only come about, if we all work together to make it happen.

However while this is in the future the existing building at Rowley Park, offers a large Function Room with car parking, full kitchen, separate licensed bar and which is capable of being adapted to fit your many different activities. For further details on all our facilities, please telephone Mandy Thompson on 01480 392891 to arrange a guided tour and to discuss your individual requirements.

In conclusion the chairman would like to invite the people of St Neots and surrounding area to come along and support St Neots Town Football Club in 2007. The club promises a friendly welcome on arrival and an enjoyable visit, which we hope you will pass on to your friends.
Further information on our operations:
Saints club website: www.stneotsfc.net / By telephone to 01480 471256

Or just come along to the clubhouse on match day, where there will always be a member of the committee available to welcome you and deal with any questions.

Please note that the entrance to the car park has recently been moved, please follow the new signs, this has been arranged with the builders, for the safety of the public visiting the ground.

Finally the chairman's New Year resolution in 2007 is to keep everyone fully up to date with our many activities both on and off the field, including our thriving youth set-up, with the view that you can identify and feel part of your football club at Rowley Park in St Neots.

Happy New Year
Bob Bridges
Chairman
